On the evening of September 9th, 2024, Kelowna's growth was marked once again with a significant milestone as Mayor Tom Dyas joined Whitworth Holdings in officially opening the new townhouses at The Arbour at Lakeshore. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held at the newly developed townhomes in the Lower Mission area, signalled the completion of a key phase in Kelowna’s rental housing market.
The event was attended by local officials, prospective tenants, and key figures from Whitworth Holdings, including Cam Costley, General Manager of Whitworth Holdings, who has been at the forefront of the project’s development.
“This is an exciting moment for us and for Kelowna,” said Costley. “The demand for high-quality rental properties continues to grow, and we are proud to provide homes that cater to the needs of this thriving community.”
The Arbour at Lakeshore, a multi-family residential property, has been designed with thoughtful touches and an emphasis on community. The development includes townhouses along with other rental units, offering options ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments. As highlighted by Costley, the focus on convenience and community is reflected in features like walk-in storage at the front door, a dog park, a community garden, and EV chargers.
Mayor Dyas, who was present to celebrate the opening, emphasized the importance of developments like The Arbour for maintaining Kelowna’s growth while ensuring the city has the necessary infrastructure and housing to support its residents. He also highlighted the positive impact of local businesses, such as Whitworth Holdings, and their continued investment in the community.
The ribbon-cutting comes on the heels of successful open houses on August 28th and September 7th, which attracted significant interest from potential renters. Special incentives, including two months of free rent and six months of free parking, have further driven interest, with The Arbour already 75% occupied.
Located in the family-friendly Lower Mission area, The Arbour’s proximity to local amenities like Sarsons Park, the H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre, and nearby schools makes it an attractive option for families and professionals alike.
With this latest development, Whitworth Holdings continues its 70-year legacy of shaping the Okanagan landscape, creating homes that are not only functional but contribute to the fabric of the community.
As Costley noted, “We’re not just building residences, we’re building a community where people can truly feel at home.”
